Patrícia Almeida (1970-2017). Estudou História na Universidade Nova de Lisboa e Fotografia no Goldsmiths College (Londres). Interessando-se pela fotografia documental enquanto território de pesquisa e de criação artística, começou por realizar trabalhos que questionam a relação do indivíduo com o espaço urbano (No Parking, 2004). Em 2008, concebe a série Portobello, um projecto que reúne fotografias, projecções de vídeo e de slides, e explora o imaginário associado aos “lugares-marca” promovidos enquanto destinos turísticos de verão. Em 2010, no âmbito do prémio BESphoto apresenta a exposição All Beauty Must Die, que combina fotografias, vídeos, serigrafias e livros auto-editados, onde são exploradas as relações entre a juventude, a música pop, o romantismo e a paisagem. Em 2011, fundou a editora GHOST com David-Alexandre Guéniot e dedicou-se a edição de livros de artistas. Em 2015, publica o livro Ma vie va changer, com David-Alexandre Guéniot, louvado pela crítica nacional e internacional por renovar o género do livro político e de protesto a partir de um ponto de vista pessoal e íntimo. Vários dos seus livros foram o ponto de partida para exposições individuais, vídeos ou instalações como 15 de Outubro 2011 (Bienal de Vila Franca de Xira, 2016), Today, I am just a butterfly sending you a sentence (Festival Loops, 2016) ou Fotografo-te fotografá-lo a fotografar-me, a sua última exposição, em Março de 2017, na galeria Pedro Oliveira no Porto. O seu trabalho é regularmente apresentado em Portugal e na Europa e integra várias colecções, entre elas a Fundação PLMJ, a Fundação de Serralves, a Colecção Novo Banco, o Centro de Artes Visuais de Coimbra, o Centro Português de Fotografia, a Coleção de Arte Contemporânea do Estado ou ainda a Colecção Municipal de Arte do Porto.

Patrícia Almeida (1970-2017). She studied History at the University Nova in Lisbon and Photography at Goldsmiths College in London. Interested in documentary photography as a territory of research and artistic creation, she began by making works that question the relationship of the individual with urban space (No Parking, 2004). In 2008, she conceived the series Portobello, a project that brings together photographs, video and slide projections, and explores the imaginary associated with "place branding" and summer tourist destinations. In 2010, as part of the BESphoto award she presents the exhibition All Beauty Must Die, which combines photographs, videos, serigraphs and self-published books, and where she explores the relationships between youth, pop music, romanticism and landscape. In 2011, she founded the publishing house GHOST with David-Alexandre Guéniot and dedicated herself to publishing artists' books. In 2015, she published Ma vie va changer with David-Alexandre Guéniot, praised by national and international critics for renewing the genre of the political and protest book from a personal and intimate point of view. Several of her books have been the starting point for solo exhibitions, videos or installations such as 15 October 2011 (Bienal de Vila Franca de Xira, 2016), Today, I am just a butterfly sending you a sentence (Festival Loops, 2016) or I Photograph you photographing him photographing me, her latest exhibition, in March 2017, at the gallery Pedro Oliveira in Porto. Her work is regularly presented in Portugal and Europe and is part of several collections, including the PLMJ Foundation, the Serralves Foundation, the Novo Banco Collection, the Visual Arts Centre of Coimbra, the Portuguese Photography Centre, the State Contemporary Art Collection or even the Municipal Art Collection of Porto.
